Dear Mr. Cotton,
I am writing on behalf of Mr. John Burtt, whose name has been submitted to the Nominating Committee of the National Rifle Association (NRA) for consideration as a candidate to join the Board of Directors of NRA.
As the current President of the Fifty Caliber Shooters Association (FCSA), I want to assure you that Mr. Burtt has the complete support of the fifty caliber shooting community and the unanimous support of the Board of Directors of FCSA. The FCSA, as you know, is a NRA affiliated 4000 member organization with members in all 50 states and 22 foreign countries. John has been an active participant in our organization since he joined many years ago, when we were young and struggling to grow our sport. He has served as a member of our Board of Directors on several occasions, as the Vice President, and for the past six years as the voice representing the rights of fifty caliber shooters everywhere by serving as Chairman/President of the Fifty Caliber Institute (FCI). Mr. Burtt drafted the Bylaws of our organization and re-wrote the Rules of Shooting Competition under which our organization is now governed.
I could go on regarding John's qualifications to join the NRA Board of Directors, but I think you must see what my intention is. John would be a tremendous asset to the NRA. He is a dedicated supporter of our great 2nd Amendment. He is an untiring worker and a strong NRA advocate. Mr. Burtt is a highly respected and well recognized member of the entire shooting community, not just the FCSA. We ask that you support his candidacy as a possible member of the NRA Board of Directors
Best regards and thank you for your consideration.
Lynn McMurdo, President
Fifty Caliber Shooters Association
